A new wine bar: Dalva Wine and the City

With a stunning view over the River Douro and Porto’s Ribeira, guests are invited to explore new dining experiences, where Port wine takes centre stage, whether in creative cocktails or at the table. All this is accompanied by a relaxed menu of small bites, carefully crafted by Chef José Guedes.

None of the drinks on the menu follow the usual concept of a fixed tasting. Instead, the brand embraces the idea of a dynamic tasting, supported by a specially trained front-of-house team who offer personalised advice on what to choose, depending on each guest’s taste and curiosity. The informality intended for this wine bar, combined with the concept of dynamic tasting, has thus opened the door to a creative menu of snacks, a far cry from the usual offering of traditional dishes or cheese and sausage platters.

To understand the present, one must understand the past, when, in 2022, the Dalva brand decided to take Port and Douro wine beyond its traditional territory – a campaign dubbed ‘Dalva Wine and the City’, celebrating wine, cities and the richness of Portugal’s historical and gastronomic heritage. Four years later, the name has returned to the city streets, in the Ribeira district of Vila Nova de Gaia, where the brand has just opened a wine bar that embodies, with a permanent location, the campaign’s creative theme.
